The City Council met in a special session on the 25th
day of June, 2009 at 6:00 PM in the Council Room.
Present: Greg Hansen, Xiong Yang and Jeff Harnack, City Clerk
Paula McGarvey, Leonard McLaughlin arrived at 6:45.
Also present: Lisa Zmeskal
Mayor Hansen presided at the meeting
The 2008 Audit has been completed and was reviewed by Lisa
Zmeskal from Hoffman & Brobst, Certified Public Accountants.
A copy of the 2008 Audit is available at the Walnut Grove City
Office for review by anyone wishing to see it. Overall, the
audit was very good showing a slight increase in the General
Fund Balance at the close of 2008 compared to 2007. In addition
to this, Country View reported an increase in $56,613 in net
assets at the close of 2008. This is the first time since the
complex opened that the fund was able to report an increase in
net assets. The Bar & Grill showed a profit of $23, 333 for
2008.
The final payment for the 1989 Street Project was made in
January of 2009. There was a transfer of 2905.37 from the
General Fund to cover this Final Payment. In addition, after an
audit adjustments was made, there was a second transfer of
$192.10 made from the General Fund to cover the final payment
leaving a $0 balance in Fund 304. Motion by Xiong Yang, Second
by Jeff Harnack to close fund 304. All voted in favor, motion
carried.
Brief discussion was held on the seal coating project that is to
be done this summer. There is a concern about whether or not
the sweeper can handle picking up all the pee rock after the
project. Options will be discussed at the next meeting.
A brief discussion was held on the possibility of teaming up
with Lamberton to apply for a Grant with Western Community
Action for home improvements for low income families in Walnut
Grove. Further discussion will take place at the next meeting.
Discussion was held about Sales Tax increasing and whether or
not pricing for drinks needs to be adjusted at the bar because
of the increase. Further discussion will take place at the next
meeting.
There is still no word on any resolution to the Travis Schaar
charges however the city attorney is working with Schaar’s
attorney to get this resolved by July 1, 2009.
Motion to Adjourn by Leonard McLaughlin, second by Jeff
Harnack. All voted in favor, motion carried.
