The City Council met in a regular session on the 8th day of
March, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Council Room.
Present: Greg Hansen, Todd Harrington, Leonard McLaughlin, Xiong
Yang and Jeff Harnack
Also Present: Wes Bell, Mike Zeug, and Tom Hansen
Mayor Hansen presided at the meeting
The Bar & Grill report continues to show a slight increase in
sales. Motion by Leonard McLaughlin, second by Todd Harrington
for the Bar & Grill to donate $100 to the Walnut Grove Family
Festival. All voted in favor, motion carried.
The Maintenance Report was given by Tom Hansen. Tom will be
attending training in with MN Rural Water on April 27 in
Cottonwood.
The Water/ Wastewater Report was given by Wes Bell. The new
furnace has been installed. All sump pumps should now have been
moved to drain outside.
The Police Report was given by Chief Zeug. There is still no
resolution for the impounded vehicles.
The 2010 Fire and Ambulance Budgets were reviewed at the annual
Budget Meeting held with the Townships on Feb. 24. The
townships voted to approve the new Fire call charges and to
increase the mileage charge to $12 per loaded mile for ambulance
charges. The base rate for ambulance service will remain at
$475 per call for Basic Life Support Calls. Discussion was held
on the ambulance billing. Approximately 80% of the calls in
2009 were Medicare or Medicare equivalent calls. The 2010
Medicare rates for payments will be approximately $87 less per
call then what was received per Medicare call in 2009.
Discussion was held on the use of the Country View Bus and who
would be allowed to use it. It was determined that Country View
(Tealwood) employees would be allowed to drive for Country View
Activities. City Employees, City council, EDA Board Members,
Persons authorized by the school to drive WWG buses and person’s
approved by the Mayor would be allowed to drive the bus in
special situations as long as it is not needed by Country View.
A Motion to Approve the Resolution authorizing the use of the
Country View bus was made by Jeff Harnack, second by Todd
Harrington. All voted in favor, motion carried.
Discussion was held on the possibility of the cities LGA for
2010 being cut by $34,000. The council reviewed the budget to
determine where these cuts would be made if necessary. Further
discussion will continue at a later meeting if these cuts are
needed.
Discussion was held on designating a handicapped parking spot by
the Methodist Church.
Motion by Xiong Yang, second by Leonard McLaughlin to put up a
Handicapped Parking sign on Bedal Street south of the Methodist
Church. All voted in favor, Motion carried.
The Annual Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting will be held
at the Walnut Grove City Council Room April 12, 2010 at 7PM.
Motion by Todd Harrington, second by Jeff Harnack to approve the
Minutes for the February 8, 2010 regular meeting. All voted in
favor, motion carried. Motion by Leonard McLaughlin, second by
Todd Harrington to approve the Minutes for the February 24, 2010
special meeting. All voted in favor, motion carried.
Motion by Leonard McLaughlin, second by Xiong Yang to approve
Claims #31466 through 31555. All voted in favor, motion
carried.
Motion by Todd Harrington, second by Jeff Harnack to adjourn.
All voted in favor, motion carried.
